The Erie County Paranormal Group is a web site put together by a group of Paranormal Investigators who volunteer their time and talents to research claims of Paranormal Activity. We have many tales and products that deal with paranormal and supernatural activities.

Our main mission is to gather evidence in the quest to answer as many questions as possible in the realm of paranormal activity. We are not thrill seekers and do not support the use of Ouija & spirit boards, and séances.

SIGNS OF A HAUNTING

• Unexplained noises - footsteps; knocks, banging, rapping; scratching sounds; sounds of something being dropped. Sometimes these noises can be subtle and other times they can be quite loud.

• Doors, cabinets and cupboards opening and closing - most often, these phenomena are not seen directly. The experiencer either hears the distinct sounds of the doors opening and closing (homeowners get to know quite well the distinctive sounds their houses make) or the experiencer will return to a room to find a door open or closed when they are certain that it was left in the opposite position. Sometimes furniture, like kitchen chairs, are perceived to have been moved. Very rarely will the experiencer actually witness the phenomenon taking place.

• Lights turning off and on - likewise, these events are seldom seen actually occurring, but the lights are switched on or off when the experiencer knows they were not left that way. This can also happen with TVs, radios and other electrically powered items.

• Items disappearing and reappearing - the experience of not being able to find a regularly used item - say, your set of car keys - which you believe you placed in a spot you routinely place them. But they're gone and you look high and low for them with no success. Some time later, the keys are found - in exactly the place you normally put them. Sometimes they are not returned for days or even weeks, but when they are, it's in an obvious place that could not have been missed by even a casual search.

• Unexplained shadows - the sighting of fleeting shapes and shadows, usually seen out of the corner of the eye. This phenomenon has also been discussed in some detail in "Shadow People." Many times, the shadows have vaguely human forms, while other times they are less distinguishable or smaller.

• Strange animal behavior - a dog, cat or other pet behaves strangely. Dogs may bark at something unseen, cower without apparent reason or refuse to enter a room they normally do. Cats may seem to be "watching" something cross a room. Animals have sharper senses than humans, and many researchers think their psychic abilities might be more finely tuned also.

• Feelings of being watched - this is not an uncommon feeling and can be attributed to many things, but it could have a paranormal source if the feeling consistently occurs in a particular part of the house at a particular time.

I think one of the most misunderstood things about the paranormal is that it may be normal. Things we don't understand and perhaps simply don't possess the technology yet to be able to fully understand the phenomena out there. If we did, wouldn't those paranormal investigators be out of a job? Their area of study would just be "normal investigation", nothing "para" about it. Nevertheless, their work must be done as the modern and mainstream accepted sciences want no part of it for the time being. Whatever is happening across the world, regarding all types of Paranormal Events and phenomena, it's pretty clear something is going on. Unless the entire planet is in varying states of hallucination and hysteria, and let's hope we find out if that's true if it's indeed happening...

I present another look at the strange happenings in our world. Perhaps, only the fantastic can be proven by the fantastic. Our world's ecosystems are interconnected through the efforts of plants, animals, and the world around them to keep the circle of life moving. The paranormal maybe connected in the same way. Connected, both in it's own separate existence from us, and with us moving in concert with our known ecosystems and life cycles. So, in my approach to this large area of the paranormal, I try to think of ways to connect the dots of the paranormal in such a way that they don't contradict something else already existing, either in the world as we know it or maybe something that exists to us only in folklore.

To knock a few off the top, the existence of UFOs does not contradict whether the Loch Ness Monster exists or not. Both could co-exist at the same time. Likewise prophets and their prophecies don't contradict the existance of ghosts. The cryptozoology field itself has a natural basis for everything in it to be true, just undiscovered. In another direction the idea of enhanced consciousness and levels of spirituality naturally contradict nothing in the psychical world. Science is moving in leaps and bounds in certain aspects of this area and it may one day be proven, but for now, telekenesis, telepathy and other mind powers remain in the paranormal category. No "mind power" contradicts any of the above either, it too can exist at the same time. To change directions again, Scottish legends of Little People could fall in a number of categories. It could simply be cryptozoology being a race of pygmies in different areas of the Earth.

It all must be approached with a healthy bit of skepicism of course. There are hoaxed tales and hoaxed evidence to all of the above subjects I listed. The thing to remember is that we've got tens of thousands of years of folklore, stories, legends and our modern sights to draw on for information. I believe all the pieces are there to solve some of the puzzle. We just don't know what the big picture is supposed to look like. The vast majority of this field makes the average person take a leap of faith too far for them most of the time, but if enough people don't do it, how are we ever to going to the bottom of our planet's mysteries?

Among the explanations for crop circles are that they are man made, but there are others who firmly believe they are related to paranormal actions, and UFOs. Rhine was however different form all the others who believed in parapsychology because he fearlessly exposed fake psychics but continued to perform controlled tests that would help in the development of psychic research. The tests conducted by Rhine proved that a person’s psychic talents were not hampered by distance or time. Rhine’s experiments and conclusions and his book on Extra Sensory Perception or ESP made him famous in the psychic world but it also got him the ire of many skeptics.

Aside from MacDougal and Rhine, there are many people who have acquired credit for being involved in paranormal studies or practices. Majority of these people braved the possibility of being ridiculed by a world that has considered paranormal activities as bordering on insanity.

A closer look at history will however show that people possessed inherent powers to detect things and to protect themselves. Hundreds of years ago, people had natural abilities to sense danger but this all changed when humans became dependent n technology. Today, humans no longer use their senses to predict things, but rely on multi-media to tell them almost everything.

The invention of multi-media has changed man’s ability to sense things and has destroyed his inner gift to mediate and visualize things. Modern disturbances have forced man to unlearn the use of his inner voice that warns him whenever something is amiss.

The modern society looked condescendingly on paranormal studies and practices that there are states that consider fortunetelling as an illegal activity. But the critics of paranormal studies could not also be blamed because there are those who use their alleged paranormal gifts to make money. There are fortuneteller who appear to be giving you new information abut yourself but in fact, such information was only deduced from the information you gave or revealed abut yourself and your family.

Psychics exist. However, it is up to you if you believe they have supernatural powers that can help build or destroy life.
